Dunedin Cosmetic Dentist Participates in Smile for School Initiative, a Great Success!

On Friday, August 21st 2009, Dr. Mike Hopkins and Staff participated in the Smile for School initiative. Dr. Hopkins, accompanied by volunteer hygienists, dental assistants and support staff volunteered time and services to Pinellas County children of school age. Each child was treated to a free cleaning, exam and xrays. In total, Dr. Hopkins treated 17 children, for an estimated total of $3,145.

Smile for School was created by Dr. Sandra Lilo of Seminole, Florida. Its purpose is to promote oral health and hygiene for younger children. In a challenging economy with many families losing their benefits, Dr. Hopkins felt it vitally important to participate in this program to ensure that these children are still receiving the oral care they need.

Dr. Hopkins has participated in many goodwill projects. Most recently he has focused his efforts in Peru. He will return in March 2010 to continue his work in the orphanages of Lima. For more information, please visit www.allaboutsmiles.org/goodwill.php
